In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, innovative projects like Game on-Level up! are transforming the way we teach and learn. Live Foundation is proud to be a partner in this exciting project, which focuses on enhancing and developing teaching staff’s pedagogical gamification skills through digital technologies, especially VR and immersive technologies. The core of the project is the development of six serious, educational games aimed at developing students’ soft and transversal skills.
The Game on-Level up! team from Live has been working on their own serious game since last spring. Various platform options have been explored, considering different possibilities, needs, necessities, and resources. Recently, the team encountered a small challenge with the platform, causing a slight setback in the selection process. However, the game’s story and script are mostly complete, eagerly awaiting the right platform to bring it to life through virtual reality.
Team Live’s language teacher Pekka began outlining the game’s story with his professional and gentle touch. From Pekka’s keyboard came several pages of a story titled “The City Of Soft Skills.” In Pekka’s story, the main character Nelson embarks on an adventure in The City Of Soft Skills, aiming to achieve the Grand Certificate of a Very Nice Person Indeed. Nelson faces various tasks in different neighbourhoods that he must complete to earn the certificate. The team loved Pekka’s story, but the platform initially set certain limitations. Together with Copilot, they started adapting Pekka’s story to a format more suitable for the platform. The plot written by Pekka still lives on in the story. The player continues to adventure in The City Of Soft Skills, exploring different environments and encountering various situations that they must navigate, either alone or by asking for help. Now, the team is working to resolve the platform-related issues so they can start building the game in earnest.
